WELCOME TO THE SPRING JOURNAL

SPRING 2025

UPDATING YOU ON RECENT ACTIVITY AND NEWS FROM COVERHAM CHURCH

As we head into the New Year, we have much to be grateful for, reflecting on our two wonderful Christmas events, the Advent concert performed by Jervaulx Singers and our Candlelit Carol service.

Thank you to all that gathered to make two joyous community events.

Do take a look at our beautifully produced films below.

The church looked so incredibly beautiful in candlelight, adorned with locally-foraged fir, pine cones, birch and cornus twigs.  The Wild Coverdale summer wreath was re-purposed and re-imagined with holly, rosehips and a robin.

Our focus going forward will be for children and young at heart, as we are planning a wonderful weekend for families in June;  starting with a production of the swashbuckling adventures of the Three Musketeers on Friday 13th June, doors open at 6.30pm for refreshments.    More details in Forthcoming Events page of the website.

This will be followed by the United Trinity Sunday Service with a special blessing of pets on Sunday 15th June.    This event will be in support of Herriot Hospice Homecare and more details will follow….

In addition, the Friends of Coverham Church committee are fully-focussed and working hard to gather information and make a bid to the National Lottery fund for Coverham.  We aim to restore heating, upgrade uplighters and electrical plugs, re-instate a simple path, restore the lychgate and create a stand-alone fully accessible compost loo!

This is a very sizeable piece of work and we shall keep you posted on our progress. Please understand if as a result there are just a few less events at Coverham this year.

Meanwhile do give us feedback on last year’s events….we welcome input and ideas from our community.

Until next time…..
