WELCOME TO THE SUMMER JOURNAL

SUMMER 2024

Summer has arrived in Coverdale and Coverham churchyard is full of wildflowers with swallows and swifts swooping overhead.  Lapwings and curlews have now thankfully safely hatched.

We were thrilled to have many new and old friends join us at Coverham church for the Wild Coverdale Flower Festival.  There are photographs and a short film available to view on our past events page, or alternatively watch the video below. This film was funded by private donation and reflects the fact that at Coverham Church we are ambassadors for Sustainable Church Flowers.

WELCOME TO THE SUMMER JOURNAL

Looking forwards, we are excited to welcome back This is my Theatre, on 5th September, with their critically-acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  This is bound to be beautifully produced and great fun.  Rose wine and delicious strawberries and cream will be served when the doors open at 6.15 for a donation to Friends of Coverham Church.  Please go to our events page to book tickets and for more information.

As events and hopefully some special services are picking up apace, we are very much aware of the need of a loo for Coverham.  With that in mind, please look at our projects page to get involved and become a CHAMPION OF COVERDALE!

Please also follow us on Instagram for more regular news and updates.

CREATION – BY BETTY HOGG

We thank our God for all he’s made

The sea and sky, the light and shade,

The flowers and trees, but most of all

For all creatures great and small.

What would the Spring be without lambs?

The friendly beasts that graze our farms,

The singing birds, the humming bees,

So rich a part of life are these.

And for the creatures of the wild

God meant this earth for them to share.

Our greedy hands we must restrain,

Nor take what’s theirs for selfish gain.

The beasts of the jungle, the birds of the air

Are our fellow creatures, with them we must share

This beautiful earth, there is room for us all,

God demands we respects them all great and small.

Until next time……
