WELCOME TO THE AUTUMN JOURNAL

Autumn 2025

UPDATING YOU ON RECENT ACTIVITY AND NEWS FROM COVERHAM CHURCH

  • The current electric organ, installed in the late 1990’s, has unfortunately ceased to function. Sadly, despite our best efforts to repair, the sound-board, a critical component, is now obsolete and therefore cannot be replaced.
  • It was felt to be a very sad loss, as church organ music is not only an integral part of worship, commemoration and celebration, but also joy for the soul!
  • All options were researched and considered. After much consultation, a new organ has been ordered and the initial deposit of £3,000 has been paid by Friends of Coverham Church.   This will guarantee its delivery and installation in time for the Coverham Candlelit Carols.
  • This is a huge, unexpected investment totalling £11,175 inc VAT, which will be paid, interest-free, over four years. In addition, Friends of Coverham need to cover the cost of insurance and servicing annually, which will be in the region of £400 p.a. tbc.
  • All donations Great and Small would be very much appreciated. This can be made via our website using this link.

With this in mind, we are already anticipating and starting to prepare for the Coverham Candlelit Carol service, which this year is on SUNDAY 21st DECEMBER at 4.30pm.

Time to get your scarves and woolly hats out for a truly festive start to Christmas in the Dale, with plenty of mulled wine, spiced apple juice, sausages and mince pies.  Accompanied by wonderful music.

Coverdale Pressed Apple Juice,  made from heritage trees close to Coverham, along with Coverdale  Heather Honey from the moors surrounding the church, is available to order from the end of November, at £6 each. They make really useful and thoughtful presents all year round. Simply get in touch via the website stating how many you would like of each, and we will deliver within the Dale, or collection can be arranged from Jo or Harriet! Payment via the donate button.

All proceeds to support the work of Friends of Coverham Church.
